Review: Vivo eyeshadow trio....

A friend of mine at work told me she had bought some of the vivo cosmetic range from Tesco and totally raved about the eyeshadows. She knows I'm a total make up junkie so told me that I should give them a try, so I did :P The only problem is, my Tesco is just the plain Jayne of Tesco's and only Tesco extra sell the vivo (as far as I know) But luckily enough, whilst I was in London a couple of weeks ago there was a huge Tesco that stocked it *happy Stacey*

I picked up three things so will be reviewing them all, but firstly I'm going to rave about the eyeshadow trio:

I bought it in 'sugar plum' and absolutely adore it!!

The palette consists of three colours : a light baby pink, a medium purple and a dark purple. I'd say this was a warm tone palette, except for the light pink which seems to be a neutral. My skin is cool toned so I can't usually wear warm tone shadows, but this works really well for me. The two purples are really pigmented but the light pink doesn't show up very well but works as a good base colour and adds a little wash of colour over the lid. All shadows are blendable and stay put when used with a primer.

The palette itself is quite sturdy and ideal for travelling with as it's so compact, and it comes with a small mirror which is always handy.
The good, the bad, and the awful:

THE GOOD:
* Cost - £2.50
* 4g of product
* Avaialable from Tesco Extra
* Small and compact
* 3 shadows, many looks
* Stays put with a primer
* Blendable

THE BAD:
* Light pink not very pigmented

I'll be hunting down a Tesco extra and buying more of these to try, really impressesd with the colours and pigmentation for the price. 4/5

Review: MUA eyeshadow primer....

As I've said a few times I'm currently building up my freelance kit, and I'm always trying out different products to see what I like and don't like.

I have a hand full of eyeshadow primers that I'm using and that I love; MAC paint pots, Urban Decay primer potion and Soap and Glory It's about prime. Out of all of them I think I reach for Urban Decay because it has no colour and can be used with matte and shimmer shadows

SO, whilst in superdrug I was having a good old spy at the MUA stand and noticed that they had an eyeshadow primer that looked so similar to Urban Decay and for a fraction of the price. So off I trotted to the till to pay.

On the tube it says 'Long lasting, smoothing, no creases'......and let me tell you, it does exactly what it says!! From the first time I used this, I new I had found a winner. Usually I need to use something a few times before I know if I like it, not this! I fell in love with it as soon as I applied it.

I want to say it's similar to Urban Decay; similar packaging (sponge tip applicator) and it's the same colour. BUT the consistency of MUA is much thicker than Urban Decay, and better in my opinion.

This primer can be used on any skin tone/colour because once it has absorbed into the skin it leaves no colour behind. I reach for this every morning as appose to any of my others now. I apply my make up at around 7:30am on a working day and sometimes don't have the chance to wash it off until around 7pm that night, and my shadow is still in place and just as vibrant as it was that morning!

The good, the good and...the good (no bad points!)
* Cost - £2.50
* 7.5g
* Quite thick consistency
* Eyeshadow lasts around 12 hours
* Prevents creasing
* Smooth to apply
* Does what it says on the tube

Definitely one for my kit, and I definitely recommend picking this up....5/5
Thanks MUA!!

Easter gift idea....

Easter is coming! I swear I'm like a big kid :P I just love that it gives me an excuse to do crafty things, paint my nails funky colours and bake cakes. OK, I don't need an excuse for any of those things because I love doing them anyway. BUT I like having a theme for things, makes it all that bit more exciting. So, on the run up to Easter I decided to post some Easter fun. Today's? Easter gift idea. I know a lot of people buy an Easter egg for that special someone, but this year I've decided to give something a little different to my niece and nephew:

An Easter basket. It's not that exciting but I thought it's a little different for them since they'll be getting lots of eggs, and they can use the basket for an Easter hunt afterwards :)
Easter - my most over used word in this post :P
Have a great Easter everyone :)

Simple Vs Garnier....

I haven't actually found a skin routine that I love and that makes me think 'WOW I love my skin'. I've tried a few new products to see if I fall in love with anything, and the only thing I've found and I know that from now on I'll repurchase again and again, is Simple oil balancing face wash and moisturiser.

£4.29

£4.25

I have a slightly oily T-zone and find that this face wash and moisturiser really do help control the oil. I ran out of both around 2 weeks ago, and whilst in Superdrug I noticed that Garnier were having a 2 for £5 offer on their skin care. So I picked up their pure anti blackhead deep pore wash and pure long lasting shine control moisturiser to see if it worked as well as simple.

And the result? It isn't half as good as Simple, sorry Garnier. This face wash (which is also supposed to control shine) and the moisturiser have actually made my skin go back to the way it was before I started using the Simple! The Garnier actually has a very strong off putting smell about it too, where as the simple has no smell at all, which I prefer.

So the winner? SIMPLE every time. I promise I'll never doubt you again!!

Simple and Garnier are both available from Boots and Superdrug
