Review - MUA Conceal and Brighten kit

MUA cosmetics are on top form once again with their new products. Up for review today is their 'Conceal and Brighten' kit in 'Porcelain - Beige'.

The first thing love about this is the amount of product in each palette, 11g What a bargain! the second is how creamy the actual concealer is. It's not too thick to use under the eye area but it's thick enough to give great coverage. I've been using the lightest shade for under my eyes which really does brighten them, and the second lightest shade (the first in the palette) to cover any blemishes have. This shade matches me perfectly!

Usually when apply concealer to any spots, mainly my chin, it rubs off or separates because that's where I'm quite oily. However I didn't find that happened with this product. The brighter colour that I used to highlight and conceal under my eyes didn't crease or get into the few fine lines have there, bonus!

The Lowdown:

Price - Currently £2.50 (Usual price £3.50)
Product - 11g
Shades - 3
Does it conceal and brighten - Definitely
Recommend - Oh yes
Repurchase - Absolutely
Where to buy - Superdrug and MUA online

Have you tried this? What are your thoughts?

Review - The Body Shop Wild Rose hand cream

If you've read my previous post of The Body shop's 'Hemp hand protector' then you'll know how much I love it. However it ran out recently and I thought I'd try out a different hand cream from them. For two reasons: The hemp hand protector is AMAZING however it smells not all that great, and two because it's quite greasy. Meaning I could only really use it before bed. I definitely stand by my recommendation though, and if you suffer dry hands get that cream.

SO instead of picking up another of the 'Hemp' variety, I chose the 'Wild Rose' hand cream

The claims:

'Hydrates and helps protect against the appearance of brown spots. With rosehip oil and Community Fair Trade Brazil nut oil'

What I think:

I really like this hand cream, just as mush as the 'Hemp hand protector'! I find that it works just as good, I can't comment on the protecting against brown spots part because I don't have any, but there's definitely oils in there. The main differences between this and the 'Hemp hand protector' is the smell and that this is not as greasy. The 'Hemp hand protector is very thick, where as this is more of a cream/lotion. This soaks into the skin pretty quickly and smells divine (Don't get this if you hate the smell of rose though!) The rosehip and Brazil oils certainly spring into action, leaving hands so soft

The lowdown:

Cost: 30ml - £5.00 and 100ml - £10.00
Product: 30ml and 100ml
Moisturising: Absolutely
Would I recommend: Absolutely
Where to buy: The Body Shop

Have you tried this before? Or any other Body Shop hand lotions and potions?

Weekly Favourites #1

Well tis the time for my first weekly favourites post of 2013! All except one are new things that I haven't been able to put down:

* The 88 warm palette - This is such a great palette to have. You can create so many looks using this, I've been wearing a different look with this every day. The colours blend so well and are SO pigmented. A look I created using this

* Real Techniques expert face brush - I love this for applying my Revlon colorstay foundation. It helps blend it so easily, and gives a flawless finish. Think it may have taken over my stippling brush

* Gosh velvet touch waterproof eyeliner in 'Truly Brown' - I've been using this along my upper lashline and smudging it out, just to make my looks a little softer

* MUA Sheer finish lipgloss in 'Just incase' - I can't believe this is the first and only one of these glosses I have (that shall be rectified) This is such a pretty sheer pink that looks so nice on top of my prestige 'silk' lipliner

* MUA Eyebrow kit - I FINALLY got my hands on this and I'm so glad I did. This beats any eyebrow product I've used, I shall be buying a backup!! My review

What have been you're favourites this week?

Celeb Saturday

It's a New year and all that jazz so I thought I'd do some new things with my blog. This way I know I'll have posts up pretty much every day. SO Saturday's shall be 'Celeb Saturday' I'm going to pick out a celebrity make up look that I like and try recreate it.

First Saturday: Rooney Mara

Numero uno, the lady is hot and deux I love her eye make up!!

Here's what I used:

* 88 warm palette from ebay
* MUA eye primer
* Clinique high impact mascara
* MAC 217
* Small angle brush
* Fluffy brush

What I did:

*First apply a strip of masking tape (to get a straight neat edge) and eyeshadow primer to the lid

* Take 'shade 1' (similar to MAC 'Vanilla') onto a fluffy brush and apply all over the lid, to the brow bone

* Now on a MAC 217 (Any blending brush) apply 'shade 2' (a soft light taupe) to the outer half of the eye

* Next taking 'Shade 3' (matte black) on that same blending brush, apply a light thin wash of this over the Taupe

* With that same black and a small angle brush, apply a thin line (to act as liner)

* Last but not least, add a coat or two of your fave mascara and you're good to go!

This is just my take on her look, what do you think?

Until nest Saturday ;)

Review: George 'Volume Lash' mascara

Whilst wandering up and down the aisles in Asda (as you do) and spotted a new mascara from 'George' which was on offer for £3.00 (usual price is £3.50) Clearly I don't own quite enough mascara's and ended up putting one in my shopping basket.

The product:
The first time I used this, I found it to be SO runny which I hated. But I left it for a week or so to dry out a little and found that it worked much better and easier to apply

The wand:
The wand is quite stiff (behave!) and tends to clog up with mascara at the very end. The bristles are the typical spiral form and are pretty hard which I'm not really a fan of, I like a little more flexibility to help me catch each lash

This claims to 'thicken and lifts for instant lash volume' and does it? I quite like this mascara, and think that's it's pretty good for the price. However one thing that I don't like is that after a few hours it leaves black 'panda circles' under my eyes. Not a huge deal but pretty annoying to have to keep checking and fixing throughout the day.

With two coats

The lowdown:
Price: £3.50
Product: 10ml
Shades: Black and waterproof
Where to buy: Asda stores
Does it live up to its claims:
Score: 3/5

Have you tried this yet? What are your thoughts on it?
